Artist's Statement:
"December 17, 1903" is when powered flight began. Consider that profound instant, when flapping wings were no longer the prime movers of living beings through the air. The world was different on December 18th, as it has been every day since.

Despite the growth of technology and culture throughout the 20th century, powered flight remains one of the historic discontinuities of great impact on humanity.
