Artist's Statement:
"The Bishop's Flight" captures the busy energy of early flight. From the first flight in 1903, airplane technology grew quickly until, in 1908, Orville carried his father, a Dayton clergyman, aloft on his first flight. His father enjoyed that flight, and was quoted as exclaiming, "Higher, Orville, higher!"

The images in "The Bishop's Flight" are derived from a replica of the 1911 Wright B flyer, a craft similar to the one the Bishop flew in with his famous son. The B flyer lives and flies today in Dayton, OH. What of the feathers?
