We adhere to the principle that all parts and materials used in works of the Flight Centennial Collection either have, or could be, flown on real aircraft. We use vintage parts in the work. Vintage parts are no longer airworthy. We prefer to see vintage airworthy parts up flying.

All works on the website are for sale (except those in 'works in Private Collections'). Other completed works, and works in progress, are on exhibit at The Flight Centennial Collection Studio in Naples, Florida.

We also design and make pieces by commission for individuals, groups and organizations. We make one-of-a-kind pieces, but can supply works of the same genre and size in quantity. We are available for personal consultation.

Because Flight Centennial Collection works are made of aviation-quality materials, and assembled using standard aviation fabrication techniques, they qualify as "archival" works (lasting 100 years or more), as commonly defined in the fine art community. Thus, there is great probability that your piece, given normal display and storage conditions, will be available to view at the bicentennial of powered flight.

Jo-Ann works on a large, free-hanging fabric piece at the Wright B Flyer Museum, Dayton, Ohio. She uses a frottage method to begin the piece involving a wing rib from the 1903 Wright Flyer.

Public Relations Capabilities:

We have a one hour illustrated presentation, which describes the collection and places it in the context of 20th century works in art and technology. Please contact us if you would like to schedule this presentation.

Works from the collection are available for traveling exhibition.

Materials Capabilities:

Through museums, salvage yards, supply houses and aircraft repair facilities, we have gathered a broad selection of aviation hardware, electronics, fabrics, adhesives and coatings. These have been used to produce the sample of works shown on this website.

We have experience with aviation fabrics, metals and pigments, and fastening technologies suitable for their arrangement and construction. Besides typical aviation-grade pigment coatings, we can electroplate parts and surfaces with 24-karat gold or other metals (see the piece titled "Piston" in the Portfolio).

Most metal parts are vintage, and , along with some of the airfoil fabrics, come from significant aircraft of the 20th century. Some materials, such as fasteners, synthetic airfoil fabrics, adhesives and aviation-grade wood and aluminum sheet stock, are new.

All pigments used are aviation-grade, polyurethane gloss paints. The paints are authentic colors, are water-based, and environmentally safe.

Some examples of materials in stock follow. This is not an exhaustive list. We are happy to accept commissions which incorporate aviation memorabilia in your possession, thus personalizing your work of art.

Gary fabricates 'Views from Aloft' at the workshop.

Jo-Ann signs 'Roswell Approach I'.

Process Capabilities:

We maintain a studio and hangar. Studio space is devoted to design, layout, light fabrication and finishing of Collection works. The hangar is used for "heavy" cutting operations and assembly tasks.

We work with standard electric, bench, hand and air tools found in the typical professional aircraft shop, and art supplies found in the typical art studio. For other processes, we subcontract to machine shops and metal cutting and bending services, as well as precious and non-precious metal plating operators.

Handling Capabilities:

Works for the Flight Centennial Collection may be of any reasonable size and weight manageable by two people. We have produced fabric wall hangings approximately 6' x 12'. We may consider larger works up to and including "installation" pieces or free-standing sculptures, with the understanding that special equipment for transportation and handling would be worked into final costs.
